More about Bethany

Over the lifetime of my career the one consistent factor has been that I am constantly learning new things about myself and what’s important to me. I started out my adult life as a secondary school teacher qualified to deliver Drama and English to energetic teenagers. Over the years I had the pleasure of looking after some lovely form groups full of interesting young people who made me question if the National Curriculum always helped them to be the best they can be. And eventually I decided probably not… so I left teaching to pursue something new!

My new adventure began in the National Health Service in 2005 - and what an adventure it was! I worked all over the NHS learning as much as I possibly could about the different organisations - I worked in a PCT, 3 Acute Trusts and a Mental Health Trust! - the services, the systems, the measures, the motivations, the challenges and of course the people who held it all together. My NHS journey enabled me to try my hand at formal Project Management, Clinical Service Improvement, Corporate Training, Learning and Development Management, and my career spiritual home, Organisational Development (OD). Learning and growing all the time through the jobs I’ve taken, the places I’ve worked, the experiences I’ve had and the truly amazing people I’m lucky enough to have met along the way.

I have had the pleasure of helping establish Learning and OD functions with genuine impact. Working collaboratively, I have designed services that colleagues voluntarily engage with for support, assistance and guidance, services that make a real difference to organisational leadership, staff engagement and the quality of services delivered to the citizens our work has supported.

My Connected Consultants ‘work wife’ is Nichol and together we make a strong partnership! We’re the Ying to each other’s Yang, challenging each other constantly to see the world through a different lens - me adding logic, rules, reason, and Nichol seeing fervent possibilities and connections in every situation, every story and every person she meets.

We decided to work together on the things that really ‘light us up!’ Connected Consultants is a place where making a difference feels possible. Doing the right thing for the people we work with is key. And where working collaboratively with energy and integrity is our bottom line.
